A medical weight loss program is a specially designed plan that includes the close monitoring of a physician. At Tampa Bay Concierge Doctor, you start the program after we conduct a thorough physical examination to determine your health status.
Once we have a good foundation for your medical needs, we prescribe a specialized diet aimed at helping you lose weight and improve your health.
Ongoing support is an important part of any weight loss program, so we have you come in regularly to monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed.
Do I need to exercise to lose weight?
Exercise is an essential part of any good weight loss plan. After we complete your physical examination, we provide recommendations for exercise that fit your health and fitness levels.
For good health, you should get 30 to 60 minutes of planned exercise five days a week. To help you ease into an exercise program, we may recommend you begin with 15 minutes of exercise a day and slowly work your way up to the recommended minutes.
Walking, biking and swimming make good choices for physical activity. We also recommend you include muscle-building activities twice a week, such as the use of free weights or a resistance band, to build muscle and strength.
What types of medications help with weight loss?
We understand how difficult it is for many people to lose weight, which is why we may prescribe weight loss medication for a little help. Most weight-loss medications are used for only a short period of time, usually no longer than about three months.
We also use lipotropic (fat burning) injections to help you lose weight along with diet and exercise.
