Frequently Asked Questions
What is Semaglutide and how does it aid in weight loss?
Semaglutide is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. It mimics the action of a hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which is released from the gut in response to a meal. Semaglutide works by binding to GLP-1 receptors in the brain, reducing appetite, slowing down stomach emptying, and increasing feelings of fullness. This helps to decrease food intake and promote weight loss.
Who is an ideal candidate for Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss Tampa treatment?
Semaglutide is recommended for adults who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or greater (obese), or for those with a BMI of 27 kg/m² or greater who also have at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. It is also suitable for individuals who have tried to lose weight through diet and exercise but have been unsuccessful.
What are the potential side effects of using Semaglutide for weight loss?
Common side effects of Semaglutide include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation, which generally improve over time. More serious but rare side effects can include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, an increased risk of thyroid cancer, and allergic reactions. It is important for individuals to be monitored by their healthcare provider for these side effects while on Semaglutide.
